This is Cross Tabs, the newsletter for the podcast that looks at how people, data and power intersect to help us explain, understand – and also obscure and obfuscate – the world we all share.

Each week, Farrah Bostic – strategist, researcher and dabbler in political focus groups – and guests will explore an issue, methodology, poll, or cultural trend that is informing the way we understand each other and navigate our political culture and economy.

Some shows will be pretty wonky – talking research methodology with some of the best pollsters and political scientists in the world. Other shows will explore specific policy areas, political strategy, cultural trends that influence politics, and specific audiences that make up the American electorate.

I won't "un-skew" the polls for you. I won't make predictions. I will try to show listeners that all polls are not created equal, and that they're not mysterious. And I'll be honest about my own political preferences, and the way working as a brand strategist colors my ideas about what politicians and campaigns ought to do to be effective.
